Productions
The SMC offers various science and educational media-related services to members of IISER Pune and other research institutes. We provide resource persons and equipment for the production of science videos. Our studios and equipment are available for interviews of researchers and visiting dignitaries on prior booking. You can also record audio clips and radio programs at our Centre.
Research Communication:
Audio-visual media are increasingly being used as a means of documenting research. Several research papers today include videos as supplementary information. Journals like Journal of Visual Experiments (JoVE) are entirely video-based. The SMC endeavors to fulfill this particular niche for IISER Pune by helping researchers present their data in the A-V format.

Educational Videos:
Technology-enhanced learning has become the norm. The SMC helps produce educational videos that can be used not only for distance learning but also as part of the courses taught at IISER Pune. These videos, made with the help of experts in respective fields, are based on sound instructional design principles and are designed to convey key concepts to the learner. The SMC is also involved in the production of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that will soon be offered by IISER Pune. See here educational videos produced by the SMC.
Training in Science Communication:
The SMC conducts courses, hands-on workshops, and training programs in science communication for students and researchers. The aim of these workshops is to acquaint them with the basics of media production and provide hands-on training to make them comfortable with various aspects of production. Outreach:
Bringing scientific research to society is one of the mandates of IISER Pune. The SMC plays a crucial role in this by producing short documentaries about the work carried out by a particular laboratory or researcher. The emphasis is to communicate technical information in a way that even those without specialized training in the subject will be able to understand the gist. The SMC also regularly produces audio features that give information about the research and other activities of the Institute for the Pune community radio station.
Documentation of Institute Activities:
IISER Pune has a vibrant academic atmosphere. The campus hosts numerous conferences, seminars, and student-led activities throughout the year.
