Student Engagement
Developing Science Communication as a pedagogical discipline

Exposure Workshops & Trainings

Mentoring & Project Guidance

Internship & Opportunities
We’re practitioners and mentors of science communication. We’re also a learning and mentoring centre for students interested in exploring Science communication as a profession or domain. From skill building workshops, to student engagement programs, to project development, internships and fellowships, we encourage students to use the centre as their spring board into the world of science communication.
Apart from being a production and outreach centre, SMC is also a pedagogical space for students interested in understanding and pursuing science communication as a discipline. The Centre has an open-door policy for students wanting to develop their own projects or seeking internships in the field to strengthen their understanding.SMC also creates opportunities for students to become fellows on larger research projects, and offers skilling workshops and trainings hosted by internal IISER faculty and staff as well as inviting external resources.
SMC through its student engangement program also trains students through the workshops such as 3D scientific illustrations and animation, Visual designs for SciComm, SciComm Writing, Science film making, 2D animation, etc. The programs not only do capacity building but also gives students an opportunity to communicate science more creatively through various art forms like flims, animation, graphics and Virtual reality.
